Out Damned Truth! Out, I Say!

Scotland can be a cruel place for Kings and Thanes and Congressmen on lobbyist paid junkets. Bob Ney has stated in the past that one of his functions on the Abramoff golf junket to St. Andrews ($100,000 total tab) was to address the Scottish parliament. Oops, they weren't in session that week as revealed in this week's Newsweek. From Newsweek:

And other records reviewed by NEWSWEEK raise further questions about Ney's account. An "external liaison" registry of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh shows that other members of the U.S. Congress visited that month. But there is no record of Ney's doing so. In fact, the Parliament was in recess when Ney was in Scotland, so "there is no way" he could have addressed the body, said Sally Coyne, a Parliament spokeswoman. A press officer for the House of Commons in London said the British Parliament was also in recess.

Ney's spokesman, Brian Walsh, said that the congressman "wasn't giving a formal speech." Ney "met with a number of folks over there. I don't have any names."

A word for Ney. Details. When you're telling a lie, it's the details that make the story believable. Bob Ney seems to be very short on details and truth for that matter. Ney should produce some actual people he met with. Good luck. Maybe Ney was making plans for Nigel.

The real story here in my opinion is how the fuck did Ney get a three year pass on this. I hear in next week's Newsweek they're going to get to the bottom of that pesky McKinley assassination.

I might have to go seek Ney out on the campaign trail and throw some Scotch Eggs at him.
