FEMA Fuck-Ups Continue

Salon tells us today that FEMA finally deployed about fifty of the firefighters holed up in an Atlanta hotel waiting to help. They were used as props for a Bush photo-op. Some of the fire fighter removed their FEMA T-shirts in protest when they found out that was all they were there to do. FEMA's response:

"I would go back and ask the firefighter to revisit his commitment to FEMA, to firefighting and to the citizens of this country," FEMA spokeswoman Mary Hudak told the Tribune.

Hudak should follow Mike Brown out the door. Howard Fineman just reported on a local DC talk radio show that Brown is no longer calling the shots at FEMA, someone from the Coast Guard is running the show now. I haven't been able to locate his name yet.

So, Brown is out, but in typical Bush crony fashion, he is still catching a check. I guess his status is unchanged really, catching a check is all he seemed to be doing before the Katrina disaster anyway. Cronies gotta get paid muthafucker!

Latest FEMA screw-up

CNN reported today that FEMA has $2000 checks for the evacuees to help them short term for food, traveling expenses etc. However, they have not been distributed because of "logistics." Anyone who lets bueracracy get in the way of helping these people should be fired, impeached or flat out thrown into the Gulf. I include both local, state and federal officials.

Apparently, the logistical problem was getting Mike Brown and Bush in front of cameras.
