President Bush accepted blame for the slow response of the federal government in the Katrina catastrophe. Pretty smart move politically. Americans have always liked people that step up and take responsibility for their failings.
It is an unusual move for the Bush administration that has yet to go down this road before in Bush's previous failures. With the blame game becoming ever more inoperable and the fatalities believed to be lower than previously estimated, it's the right time to make the move. He was basically painted into a corner anyway.
I don't know if he will take questions tonight, but there is one I would like to see asked.
Mr. President, will you sweep out the political hacks you trusted America's critical infrastructure with?
