September 11th, 2005

That's the last day victims of hurricane Katrina were allowed to be saved. Since then the rules of engagement for searches have been to knock on the door, look in the window, note any visible bodies, and move on.

Luckily for Edgar Hollingsworth, 74, yesterday Lt. Frederick Fell of California Task Force 5 decided to break the rules. Fell ordered his men to break down a door after seeing a body. Hollingsworth was unconscious on the couch, near death. Medics got an IV in him and he is expected to survive. No wonder the death toll is so low.

How many people only ran out of food and water a few days ago? Is there anything FEMA can't fuck up?
