Taft

Bob Taft will appear in court today to plea no contest to four first degree misdemeanors. Taft had the bad luck of drawing Mark Froelich, a Democratic judge, in the case. I am sure Taft has already arranged a deal with the Ghoul, though. More after the sentencing.

Just finished watching the trial. Taft looked like the lost child he really is, thought he was pretty close to dropping a tear or two. The plea bargaining agreement left the sentencing completely up to the judge, and Froelich talked about the potential for jail time. Instead, Froelich settled for the maximum fine of $4,000 plus court costs and, are you ready for this, Taft has to make a sincere apology to the people of Ohio and E-mail it to them by the means of every media outlet in Ohio within seven days. Taft has already paid full restitution for the gifts he received.

To answer jk's question in the comments. The reason Taft did not face fifty-two charges is that the deal was in place before the charges were filed. This is pretty common in cases that involve a pattern of criminal activity, usually drug charges. The prosecutor lessens the number of charges for an assured guilty plea.

I think he already got his deal. The question is why is this not 52 charges?
