SPR
The US has decided to tap into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve after it was discovered that 95% of Gulf oil rigs were going to out of production for a little while. The release will help in the middle term, but not the near term as this oil is being shipped to refineries that are also currently out of production. The refineries need to regain power before they can start producing again. I'm guessing most refineries should be back producing gasoline after the Labor Day weekend if employees can be ferried into the plants, however some pipeline repair is also in order to get the gas to the public.
