Oops, London police must have forgot that the British media aren't quite the compliant bitches that the American media have become. Jean Charles de Menezes, the Brazilian shot to death by London police wasn't wearing a heavy coat, didn't jump the turnstile, and wasn't running from the police. I'm sure the police panicked when they put seven between the eyes of an innocent man and released that jumble of misstatements to buy time.
Here in America, that would have been the end of it. In fact, the triggerman would probably get nightly reach arounds from the cable news outlets and the government would spin to the mouth piece print media that de Menezes was actually al-Qaeda's number three man. We catch a lot of number threes.
It's a shame the Guardian doesn't have an American national daily.
