House Party

Do you know what a lis pendens is? No, you probably don't, unless you have been caught growing pot on your property. A lis pendems is a notice that the federal government files when they are preparing to seize your property. A current member of congress has had one filed against him. Care to take a guess?

It's Duke Cunningham, I guess he isn't going to get liquid anytime soon. From the San Diego Union-Tribune:

"Please take notice," the document reads, "that a civil lawsuit is now pending in the United States District Court . . . which involves title to (Cunningham's house)."

The notice goes on to say: "The general object of the lawsuit is to forfeit to the United States the defendant property in that said property constitutes or is derived from proceeds traceable to a violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 201. . . . "

Title 18, Section 201 pertains to bribery, graft and conflicts of interest.

When it comes to entitled royalty, I'm not sure where in the line of succession to the thrown the Duke of cellblock D falls.
