Nawaf Obaid's column in today's Washington Post pretty much confirmed my suspicions about Dick Cheney's summoning to Saudi Arabia by King Abdullah. I think it is pretty clear that the King told Cheney in no uncertain terms that if the US is planning to "pick a side" in the burgeoning Iraq civil war, we should probably know that the Saudis have already picked theirs, the Sunnis.
It is a strait forward warning to us not to pick the other side, and even though the Saudis have promised not to intervene while the US is there, if the US sides with the Shia, military aid and money are going to start funneling across the border.
