Dubai Deal Dead

I was wrong, the Dubai ports deal is now seemingly dead. DP World has announced that they will turn over management of US ports to an American company after Bill Frist and Dennis Hastert told Bush that they veto proof majorities in both the House and Senate.

Damn, I really wanted to see if Bush actually knows how to veto a bill.

Yes, that would have been interesting--the threatened veto--I mean. Perversely, I got pleasure out of seeing the White House/Bush take a beating on this issue but it was blown out of proportion. There are many foreign entities that run ocean terminal operations in the USA. The Chinese terminal operators are owned and controlled by the Chinsese government. DP World was not going to take over the ports, just operations of terminals. While UAE is not unblemished when it comes to human rights, no Islamic nation does. We are in bed with quite a few of them.
